Our populated King Air MIP panels are typically constructed from 6mm acrylic and are supplied with all of the fitted bezels and hardware as shown here.
These MIP panels are designed for use with the King Air Construction Plans that we already sell.
Note: Due to tolerances, however, as with most cockpit building exercises, some minor modifications may be necessary during installation.
Two versions of the MIP are available: one is designed for use in front of LCD screens (Fig.1) and one is based around the fitting of Flight Illusion gauges.
MIP: LCD Screen Version
The Captain's MIP is designed for use with a 24" widescreen LCD monitor whilst the First Officer's MIP is designed around a standard 17" LCD monitor.
The LCD screens are not supplied.
Low-profile hardware is fitted to allow the panels to sit as closely against the LCD as possible whilst still allowing room for the wiring of the encoders and buttons. This hardware includes rotary encoders and knobs, buttonheads and switches. Fig. 3 shows some of the hardware as viewed from the rear of the MIP.
These panels are populated with all of the necessary bezels and hardware as shown in Fig. 4 and 5.
The Engine Gauge Bezels shown here (see Fig.5) are
approximately 85% of standard size due to the constraints of the LCD screen behind it.
Captain's MIP Panel
(LCD Version/Populated) - US$315-00
F/O's MIP Panel
(LCD Version/Populated) - US$268-00
Note: The small annunciator panel positioned above the AH in
Fig.1 is not supplied, although we are hoping to make this
available as a separate component in the near future.
MIP: Mechanical Gauge Version (unpopulated)
The dimensions for these MIP sections are exactly the same as those for the LCD version, but the correct holes have all been pre-cut and pre-drilled for easy installation of Flight Illusion gauges. We can position the placement of the gauges to suit individual builds.
Due to the physical size of any mechanical gauges, however, and the fact that all builders will have different instrument placements, it is difficult to make a universal MIP that can allow for both the temporary use of an LCD monitor and then physical gauges at a later stage. This may, however, be possible with some configurations (as shown in the mock-up below), and as always, we are happy to discuss all possible solutions with you.
Captain's MIP Panel (painted only - no hardware) - US$129-00
F/O's MIP Panel (painted only - no hardware) - US$103-00
MIP: Central Radio Panel
The Central Radio Panel is based on a King Air C90 and is supplied with the Ident switches, rotary switches, and knobs (but excludes all radios and the GPS panels). The DME Panel (with hardware) is supplied.
The Radios may be purchased separately and we also have Dummy Avidyne and GPS Panels available.
Note that some modification of the Central MIP Panel was needed to fit the GPS unit shown here, which is a GNS530 from Emuteq.com
Central Radio Panel
(populated) = US$241-00
Central Radio Panel
(unpopulated) = US$185-00
